Thought these were some pretty interesting facts, I wanted to share with you. Kind of creepy but fascinating how history hasn't come that far. "Posing Stands" (or baby bumpy, chair etc.) are still a necessary item in todays photography. Especially when it comes to children and infant photography (specifically 'non-sitters').
1. "Post Mortem photography was popular from the years 1830-1901. Subjects were often propped up or braced to appear more life-like."
2. "Photo's taken in the 1830's could take 15-30 minutes just to expose. Posing stands and head clamps were commonly used to keep subjects still."
3. Most people couldn't get photo's done because of the inconvenience and the price. Post mortem photography was typically done so they could remember the loved one they lost.
